GSMA AgriTech: Digital disruption of the agricultural sector in Africa: are we prepared for the next 5 years?
AgriTech innovators are disrupting and reshaping long-established relationships across agricultural value chains and building entirely new ecosystems. A growing number of digital agriculture tools have emerged to help agribusinesses and smallholder farmers optimise operational efficiencies and improve business performance. AgriTech innovation is also helping farmers to adapt to climate change, enabling them to access data driven agro-climatic advisory and mitigate climate-related risks via agricultural insurance.
By using digital agriculture tools, farmers are building stronger ties with formal value chains, gaining access to global markets and becoming climate resilient. Crucially, farmer and farm data generated by digital agricultural tools is supporting the creation of economic identities for farmers, enabling them to access much needed financial services such as credit and savings products.
In this session, we will gather investors, AgriTech firms, mobile operators, agribusinesses and financial service providers to talk about emerging trends in digital agriculture and discuss opportunities and collaboration models to drive AgriTech innovation forward at scale and in a sustainable way.
Join us for breakfast and hear from Acumen, Twiga Foods, Virtual City, Sun Culture and other key players in AgriTech industry.
