Maria Alexandra joined SBA Communications Corporation in 2018, charged with building and strengthening the government and regulatory affairs function for the company. Prior to this role, she was Vice President of International Government Relations at Pearson, plc, where she was instrumental in structuring this new function and establishing an institutional and strategic approach to government relations. As the top female Hispanic executive at Pearson, she created the Hispanic Initiative to support Latino students and their parents in their efforts to access quality education in the United States.
Maria Alexandra is a former member of the diplomatic service of the Republic of Colombia. She also served as communications officer for The World Bank Group, and directed government/global affairs for The Coca-Cola Company and Codensa, part of Enel.
A former practicing attorney in Colombia, Maria Alexandra holds a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia, and a Masters of Arts in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. She is a Fulbright scholar.
