As Director, Big Data at Telefónica México, Daniel is in charge of designing and monitoring the big data strategy for the company, including the data lake implementation and optimization, value-based ingestion  of strategic data sources, as well as guaranteeing their governance.  He also leads the Data Science Center of Excelence, responsible for developing all predictive and prescriptive solutions in Mexico.  Previously he was Senior Data Scientist at Banorte where he led the development of advanced analytics solutions for the bank, and Economic Researcher at Banco de Mexico.  He is obsessed with finding new ways to translate business problems into predictive solutions, as well as measuring and driving the transition to a data-driven culture.  He holds a PhD in economics from New York University (NYU) and has taught technical and non-technical courses at NYU (USA and Abu Dhabi, UAE), Universidad de los Andes and Universidad ICESI (Colombia), CIDE and TEC de Monterrey (Mexico).  When he is not thinking about data and algorithms he loves playing with his dogs, Cuban percussion and watching streaming TV.
