The GSMA’s Women4Tech program is designed to address the gender gap in the mobile and wider tech communities and supports the UN Sustainable Development Goal #5: To achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. The program is focused around four key areas:
- Women Empowering Technology – Equality and Career Development
- Women Encouraging Technology – Mentorship, Education and Youth
- Women Transforming Technology – Communication and Business Verticals
- Women Innovating in Technology – Entrepreneurship and Startups
In the last decade there has been mass incorporation of women into the formal workforce in Latin America and the Caribbean, with more than 100 million women now in work (United Nations.) This has been one of the most dramatic social changes in the region, but there remain many barriers to employment for women and a significant a pay gap between males and females in the region.
