Session 5: Getting to the last mile: Changing the way we’re reaching the underserved
Mobile Money Leadership Forum
Globally, 1.7 billion adults remain financially excluded, with women, the less educated and rural populations accounting for a disproportionate share. According to the 2017 Global Findex, 30 per cent of adults without an account at a financial institution said they do not need one, suggesting that there are limited solutions which seem relevant to their daily lives. Mobile money can have a transformative impact in this context by serving as a payment platform that enables key services and diverse use cases to reach the underserved.
This session will focus on live solutions for reaching the last mile across multiple sectors which are spurring new industries and connecting people to the digital world. How have actors offering innovative energy, water and agriculture solutions integrated with mobile money providers to grow their business from an idea to scale? How can we change the way we are reaching the underserved today, and what role should actors including donors, MNOs and start-ups play in making this shift? Join our panellists for an insight into the key drivers and implications of reaching the last mile.
The Leadership Forum is free to attend. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for a registration code.
