Session 4: Technology Today; Good News or Fake News?
In an open letter to mark the 29th anniversary of the internet, Sir Tim Berners-Lee called for everyone to recognise that ‘the web is susceptible to being weaponised at scale”.
This calls for all digital leaders to ask the difficult questions; What role will social media play in the future of elections? What questions should we begin to ask when everyone has a digital citizenship? How are we going to control technology being used as a tool for good or being wielded as a weapon, as it becomes the architecture of our communities? What accountability should online platforms hold for preventing the spread of fake news?
Join us as we tackle the questions of this century.
Not a session for the fainthearted, come ready to get involved in the debate and be prepared to have your thoughts challenged as we navigate the raw truth of what our societies have to prepare for.
