Welcome from Mats Granryd, Director General, GSMA

Thank you for joining us for Mobile 360 – Eurasia

The GSMA works with its members to support a thriving global mobile ecosystem, encouraging markets to adopt and deploy 5G networks that will serve to advance digital economies around the world, connecting everyone and everything to a better future. At each Mobile 360 Series event, we bring the industry together, inviting business leaders, policy makers and regulators. Together we share best practices and solve joint challenges. The roll out of 5G brings with it an era of Intelligent Connectivity that encompasses Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and the Internet of Things, that will underpin the development of the digital economy across the Eurasian region. Over the course of this event we will examine the imminent commercial launch of 5G networks and the pivotal role that they will play in the digital economy with unique insight from industry experts on how to launch and capitalise on this exciting new technology.

Our team has put together an outstanding programme of keynote speakers and high-level discussions covering each of these areas. Every single person at this event has something to contribute to the success of your business or organisation. Seek them out or ask us to introduce you – every member of the GSMA team is here to make this event as useful and productive as possible for you and your business.

If you’re not already a member of the GSMA, ask us about the benefits of becoming one. Amongst these are the economic and financial reports and forecasting that our in-house analyst team, GSMA Intelligence publishes. Our statistics, financial modelling and in-depth analyses provide the foundation for industry-wide decisions on everything from investing in network infrastructure to tax planning. Join us and use it. It could save you significant time and resources.

On behalf of the GSMA, I’d like to thank our sponsors – MTS, Visa, Huawei, Russian Towers, OneWeb, MegaFon, and more – for their generous support and you, for your participation in this dynamic and productive conference.

Mobile Economy – Russia & CIS

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an area where mobile operators can grow their business beyond traditional communications. Industrial IoT connections in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will see strong growth out to 2025, driven by increased interest in smart cities and smart utilities. With IoT revenue set to reach $26 billion in 2025, operators are implementing strategies designed to capture opportunities at the applications, platforms and services layer.

Further, operators are seeking to invest or formalise partnerships in the e-commerce market, particularly as smartphone and mobile broadband adoption rates grow. The industry is also exploring potential applications of, and devising solutions based on, artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technologies, and injecting greater funds in the start-up ecosystem to protect itself from disruption and diversify revenues.
