Session 4: Mobile as a Lifeline - GSMA Mobile 360 Series

Session 4: Mobile as a Lifeline

Date & Time

Tuesday, 17 Jul

16:30 - 17:45

Digital transformation is impacting every sector, including humanitarian assistance. With a quarter of the world’s refugee population in Sub-Saharan Africa, new approaches and partnerships to delivering aid and supporting affected communities are required.  Mobile technology and digital solutions offer new opportunities to better understand needs and deliver more dignified assistance. However, shared value partnership models between the mobile industry and private sector are nascent and sustainable models to support innovation and service delivery over the long term are in their infancy.

This session will explore how existing and new actors are engaging in digital humanitarian assistance, unpack the challenges they face and highlight trends and opportunities for the greatest impact.
