Session 2: Access to Adoption: Actions for Increasing Consumer Engagement
According to the GSMA’s Mobile Economy Report 2018, 4G will account for nearly a third of all connectivity in Africa by 2025. Yet, despite increased investment and increasing connectivity, the continent still has the largest digital divide globally. Conversation has now shifted from discussing the lack of access to the lack of adoption.
Why then should Africa care about 5G?
Improving digital skills, creating local content and increasing awareness of digital services can help bridge this gap, but what specific use cases and applications can 4G or even 5G bring to Africa that will increase consumer engagement? How are consumers being empowered by mobile and will 5G really be a game changer?
