Across the European Union access to mobile broadband is improving citizens’ lives and business productivity by providing access to information and services in real time with almost ubiquitous coverage. The next wave of mobility will be in services connecting us intelligently to the communities and cities we live in, and will be a key enabler for growth and innovation in all industry sectors.
The GSMA’s Mobile 360 Europe event explored examples of innovation in connected cities and communities within and beyond the EU and asked how smart public policy can maximise the potential of mobile networks, technologies and services to further contribute to their development. It featured a Connected City exhibition, key note presentations, including speeches from European Commission Vice-President Neelie Kroes and the GSMA Chairman Franco Bernabè and consecutive thematic sessions focusing on healthcare, energy, transport and entrepreneurship.
A closing CEO panel drew conclusions from the day’s case studies, demonstrations and panel sessions and explored how partnerships across vertical industry sectors and between industry and government can encourage innovation and investment from the private sector as well as building users’ access to, and trust in, services.
Mobile 360 Europe brought together policy and industry leaders across verticals and explored opportunities and how a supportive policy and regulatory framework can underpin the development of connected cities and communities, and help the European Union achieve its 2020 growth, innovation, inclusion and sustainability goals.
