Now in its third year, Mobile 360 - Africa will gather operators, government officials, ICT, finance, NGO and media leaders across Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond to evaluate how we can elevate access across the region with focus on digital inclusion, network coverage and customers' quality of experience. This year the event is coming to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for the first time. Please subscribe to our emails to receive event updates as they become available.
For the first time ever, Mobile 360 – Africa will be fully endorsed by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) and the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA). With a mutual interest in bringing rich content to a vast array of key leaders, regulators and mobile influencers alike, the GSMA, COSTECH and TCRA have come together to create a unique event to Sub-Saharan Africa. With the support of COSTECH and TCRA who are truly embedded in the host market, Mobile 360 – Africa will leverage local contacts and grow the start-up programme.
We are also excited to once again host GSMA's Jumpstart, now running for the second year. Designed to connect start-ups with regional mobile operators, Jumpstart invites local start-ups and entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative ideas and create invaluable business connections.
Throughout the past decade, Africa has been among the world’s prospective leaders, demonstrating strong potential and confidence to take on a prominent role in global affairs. Telecommunications is one of the key industries that will continue to accelerate economic growth in the Sub-Saharan African region. Over the past five years, Sub-Saharan Africa has been the fastest growing region in terms of subscribers and connections. Consumers, governments and businesses continue to rapidly adopt mobile as a tool for basic communication as well as access to information, new applications and services. Key socio-economic impacts from the use of mobile-based services include improved access to health, finance and education and improved quality in the delivery of public services.Yet despite some exciting growth, there are still strides to be made. Even with increasing adoption and affordability, there remains a significant proportion of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa who do not have access to the internet. This lack of access has the potential to hinder opportunities for development and prevent the region from truly engaging in the information age. Furthermore, the industry needs to adopt an approach that encourages digital entrepreneurship, drives the creation of innovative services and supports further investment. Moving forward, this will be a crucial challenge for both government and industry alike.
Join us for the GSMA Mobile 360 Series – Africa where we will address these key issues and explore the future of the Sub-Saharan African region. This tailored event combines a thought-leadership conference with co-located programmes that will focus in more depth on many of these key topics.

Designed to cover key developments and future roadmaps in Africa, Mobile 360 - Africa will outline new strategies and cross-industry collaboration required to accelerate access across the region. This year’s programme includes, but is not limited to, enabling access for all, delivering quality of experience, creating local digital content and the next wave of value-added services.
Back for a second year is the GSMA’s Jumpstart. Designed to engage start-ups with regional mobile operators, Jumpstart invites early stage start-ups to showcase their innovation in the mobile industry.
Mobile 360 - Africa will also serve as an extension of established GSMA conferences which highlight the work of Mobile for Development focusing on increasing access to and use of life-enhancing mobile services, accelerating socio-economic improvements for the underserved, especially women, rural and youth, particularly in digital inclusion, financial inclusion and identity for the unregistered.
Our two-day programme will feature a high-level thought-leadership conference that includes keynote speakers, panel discussions and in-depth case studies from across many industries.
The Call for Papers has now closed. We will contact successful applicants in the coming weeks. Please note that making a submission does not guarantee a speaking slot and we are not able to give feedback on individual submissions.
A number of GSMA programmes will once again be part of this year's Mobile 360 - Africa event. Mobile for Development brings together mobile operators, the wider mobile industry and the development community to deliver mobile services to underserved people in predominantly emerging markets. This programme will feature various sessions on Connected Women, Connected Society, Spectrum, M4D Utilities, Digital Identity, mHealth and more.
The Mobile Money Leadership Forum will take place on Thursday and look at building trust-based environments, interoperability, innovation and the next generation of mobile money.
Jumpstart is coming back to Mobile 360 - Africa for a second year! This unique platform offers start-ups and entrepreneurs across Sub-Saharan Africa the chance to pitch their innovative products and services to industry experts, including mobile network operators and investors.
